On May 31st, 1958 the first Pizza Hut restaurant opened in Wichita, Kansas, started by two college-aged brothers who borrowed $600 from their mother. Since the first franchise in 1959, 14,967 franchises have been opened worldwide. In 2001, the franchise became the only ever to deliver pizza to outer space with a pizza delivery to the International Space Station!
